Om Prakash Puri famous as Om Puri in Bollywood. He was born on 18th October 1950, he was born in Ambala and brought up into a Punjabi family. His father was a government servant and worked in Railways. He completed his basic education from his birth place and took the acting education from National School of Drama in 1973.
Om Puri had a bright carrier in Indian Bollywood and also plays almost all the roles as a father, brother, a villain, a hero and many other roles. He started his carrier with a Marathi film ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’, for which he had paid peanuts to performed well. He also worked with the famous faces of bollywood in his starting like Amrish Puri, Shabana Aazmi, Smita Patil and many others. He was praised for his few roles like a victimized tribal in Aakrosh, Jimmy’s manager in disco dancer, Sikh Militant in Maachis and many other movies. He was also appreciated in ‘Gandhi’ directed by Richard Attenborough. He also worked in many films which are produces in foreign countries.
He worked with approximately with all the bollywood actors, he make his own position and stays in hearts of audience due to his acting. Some of his best roles like movies chachi 420(1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Chor machaye shor (2002), Mallamal Weekly (2006) and many more. He performed on a regular basis in the films directed by Priyadarshan and Kamal Hasan.
He not only entertained us in Indian cinema but also put some foot prints on Indian Television also. His famous shows on Indian television are like ‘Savdhan India’ second season, Bharat Ek Khoj, Sea Hawks, Antaraal, Yatra, Mr. Yogi and many more serials. His each role is full of dedication and performed with reality.
Om Puri’s Personal Life
Om puri faced many ups and downs in his personal life. In 1991 he got married with Seema Kapoor but failed to continue the relation and that comes to an end within in 8 months. Later on after 2 years he again got married with journalist Nandita Puri, with her he had a son named Ishaan. Later on in 2013 he had some conflicts with Nandita too and opted for a judicial separation.
As per the biography of Om Puri written by Nandita Puri, he was a spiritual person and loves to read spiritual books. He was also fascinated with the writings of Eknath Easwaran on spirituality, and also shared his books with many of his friends. He never thinks about to join the politics instead of that he love to do cooking and gardening.
At the age of just 66 in the morning of 6th Jan 2017 he took his last breathe. As per the medical reports he died due the reason of heart attack. The whole films Industry was full of tears and expresses their sorrows via various social media sites. Big B also shared the moments which he spend with him a day before on the sets of Sarkar 3.
