Suzuki Slingshot : On Target!

Suzuki Slingshot continues to win a big fan following.

When Suzuki Slingshot was first introduced into the 125cc commuter segment, it received a huge response from the word go and since then has managed to grab a large chunk of the market. It continues to do well till date and the reasons are not hard to find.

Suzuki Slingshot

The Look:

The impressive look of the bike is certainly owner’s pride and neighbours’ envy! The masculine bodyline with an angular fuel tank with matching cowl and a curved seat makes it a ‘racer’ in its own right. A compact rear tail lamp completes its amazing look. The bike comes in both spoke-wheel and alloy-wheel options. The fuel tank has a capacity of 12 litres with 2.1 litres reserve capacity. It comes in both the options – electric start and kick start.

The Console:

The white outlined instrument console comprises an analogue speedometer and an analogue odometer. It also has a fuel meter and other light indicators – blue upper light, green neutral light and orange-coloured side blinker light. What is unique is a gear indicator that lets the rider know in which gear the bike is moving. It also has a red-coloured engine kill switch and a yellow-coloured pass switch. A light on and off button and a manual choke makes the instrument console most handy for the riders.

The Performance:

Powered by a 125cc, four strokes, air-cooled, one cylinder SOHC engine, and Suzuki Slingshot gives a good response on the city roads. The engine is capable of generating a maximum power of 8.5 BHP, achieved at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 5-speed slick gearbox that makes shifting gears butter smooth. The bike battery is of bigger capacity 12V 5Ah and the bike has a regular 35/35 watt headlight.

The Ride:

The bike feels light while steering and this makes it easy to handle on the city roads. Good suspension system that comprises a telescopic oil-damped front coil spring suspension and a swing-arm oil-damped rear coil spring suspension, help reduce bumps and jerks, contributing towards its stability even on rough terrain. Not only this, it also helps the bike in achieving a top speed of 80 kmph.

The Consumption:

The bike is capable of giving an impressive 59 kmpl on the city roads and more on highways.

The Comfort and Safety:

The shape of the bike has been sculpted with comfort in mind. The seat is so designed as to provide ample support for both the rider and the pillion. The light weight makes the bike highly manoeuvrable and its bigger 18-inch wheels help in cutting corners safely and smoothly. The 130mm drum brakes, a standard across all models, are capable enough and provide ample safety to this bike.

The Colours:

Suzuki Slingshot is available in four exciting colours: Candy Antares Red, Metallic Mustard Yellow, Metallic Fox Orange and Pearl Nebular Black.

The Cost:

The bike is moderately priced at Rs.53, 881.

 The Verdict:

Suzuki Slingshot is a bike worth owning and at a highly affordable price; it has all the frills that you may aspire for.

If you are looking for a medium range bike with almost all the necessary features, then this one is certainly a very good choice. It comes from a big house of Suzuki. So, there is hardly any doubt on its performance and power. It is a must buy vehicle. Just go for it. Wear all security gears while riding bikes on roads. Take care of your life.

Have a great and safe riding experience.
