Hero Passion Pro TR: Good Bike, Great Ride!

In Passion Pro TR, Hero MotoCorp has presented an economical, yet stylish bike for those who cannot afford more expensive versions. The bike has everything that it needs for city commuting and is worth considering by those browsing the market for a cheap, yet efficient, motorcycle.

The Look:

There is nothing spectacular about its looks; it is the same as the normal Passion Pro. However, a plethora of new features sets it apart from its predecessors to give the bike an identity of its own. The Passion Pro TR comes with all new stickers, a divided front mudguard, headlight protector and a rugged looking front tyre. The bike looks well balanced with a sleek seat ending in a grab rail and a pointed tail light. The craftsmanship and quality of the bike is good and so is the fit and finish levels. However, a smaller grill for the headlight guard with lesser gap would have been better, providing both better illumination and protection.

The Console:

Logically laid out, the three-pod instrument console gives a neat touch to the bike. Its left rectangular console comprises three indicator lights for neutral, side stand and high beam. The round centre dial consists of an analogue speedometer. While the right rectangular digital dial shows odometer, fuel gauge and a trip meter. The turn indicator is placed away from the three.

The Performance:

The 97.2 cc engine powering the TR is the same as that of its siblings, producing 7.7 BHP @ 7500 rpm and 8.04 NM @ 4500 rpm. The 4-speed standard gearbox allows smooth transition to make this bike a pleasure to ride. The overall weight of 119 kg makes it weigh more than the rest, but this increased weight does not affect its performance. Its tank capacity is 12.80 litres.

The Ride:

This bike rides smoothly on the road and is highly manoeuvrable in city traffic. However, its off road performance is not the best in its category, but remember the bike is not built for rough terrain.

The Consumption:

The bike gives a mileage of 84 kmpl in the city and more on highways.

The Comfort and Safety:

The long seat is comfortable for long journeys, both for the rider and the pillion. Safety is inbuilt in the form of front 240 mm disc brake and rear 130 mm drum brakes. An 18-inch wheel size gives the bike better control and both the front and rear tyres are equipped with larger tread blocks for better grip. The front suspension, comprising two front telescopic hydraulic forks and rear swing arm type 5-step adjustable shock absorbers, enables the bike to take on bumps and jerks in its stride.

The Colours:

Three colours: Electric Blue, Sports Red and Black with Sports Red shade.

The Cost:

The bike with electric start and disc brake is priced Rs.55,994

The Verdict:

Although designed on the lines of its older siblings, the bike gives a good riding experience and proves its efficiency under all conditions. Bike buyers will do well not to miss out on having a look at this bike, while browsing the motorcycle market.
