1: Star of Africa: $ 2 Billion

Topping the list of 10 most expensive diamonds in the world is the 3106.75 carat diamond called Star of Africa, which also happens to be the largest diamond in the world. It was mined in Pretoria, South Africa, but now lies in the research lab of England. At present, this huge diamond is owned by the British Crown.

2: Le Bijou du Roi: $ 250 Million

This $ 250 million diamond has been associated with the superstition to bring doom to its wearer. This 45.52 carat diamond was first owned by Daniel Eliason in 1812, but now lies in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

3: Steinmetz Pink Diamond: $ 100 Million

Next on the list of most expensive diamonds in the world comes the Steinmetz Pink Diamond, which has a net weight of 59.60 carat and the only known vivid pink diamond. It is believed to have been discovered in South Africa, though its origin date is unknown.

4: Centenary Diamond: $ 90 Million

The De Beers Centenary Diamond, which was discovered in 1986 follows next on this list, with a weight of 273.85 carat. It has got a clarity rating of Grade D, which is the best for colorless diamonds. This fine diamond was cut by three expert diamond cutters in a complicated process.

5: Wittelsbach Diamond: $ 80 Million

On no 5 among the most expensive diamonds in the world is the 31.06 carat diamond called Wittelsbach diamond, which had been a part of Austrian and Bavarian Jewel Crowns. It was discovered in the Golconda Mines in 1600 and is currently owned by Sheik Hamad bin Chalifa of Qatar.

6: Graff Pink: $ 46 Million

This 24.78 carat rare pink diamond comes on the sixth position in this list. It was auctioned by the Sothebys in 2010 for $ 46 million, to become the most expensive jewel piece to be auctioned ever. It is currently owned by the Graff diamonds.

7: Princie Diamond: $ 40 Million

Next on the list of 10 most expensive diamonds comes the 34.65 carats Princie diamond, which was found in Golconda mines and was first owned by the royal family of Hyderabad, but was later auctioned by the Sothebys.

8: Cullinan Heritage: $ 35.3 Million

The eighth position on the list is occupied by the Cullinan Heritage, the 507 carat stone, of the amazing size of a chicken egg. It was mined in the Cullinan mines in South Africa, which is famous for producing the biggest diamonds in the world.

9: Perfect Pink: $ 23 Million

Perfect Pink diamond, the 14.23 carat diamond became the most expensive jewel to be sold till date in any Asian country after its sale in 2010 for a whopping $ 23 million to an anonymous buyer.

10: Moussaieff Red: $ 20 Million

Occupying the tenth spot in the list of 10 most expensive diamonds in the world is this amazing 5.11 carat diamond, which happens to be the biggest of the rare red diamonds in the world. This diamond gets its name from its owner, Shlomo Moussaieff, an Israeli jewelry designer.
